The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to popular blogger and activist Chidiebere Justice Mark, widely known online as “Justice Crack,” over allegations of cybercrime linked to a viral video involving the Nigerian Army.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik approved the bail application and fixed the bail sum at ₦5 million with one surety in the same amount.
According to the court’s ruling, the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have lived at a fixed address for no less than four years.
The judge also directed the surety to provide proof of residence through either a tenancy agreement or a valid Certificate of Occupancy, which must be submitted to the court registry.
In addition, the surety must be a serving federal civil servant on at least Grade Level 15, with evidence of salary payments covering a minimum of three months.
The court further ordered that the surety provide an authentication letter from their immediate head of department as well as proof of pensionable employment.
Justice Abdulmalik also instructed the surety to file an affidavit of means and submit a recent passport photograph to the court.
As part of the bail conditions, the defendant was directed to surrender his passport to the court pending the conclusion of the trial.
Following the ruling, the case was adjourned for continuation of proceedings.
Meanwhile, human rights lawyers from Marshal Attorneys have urged the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to discontinue the criminal charges filed against the blogger.
In a letter dated May 5, 2026, the legal team called for the withdrawal of Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/253/2026 currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja, arguing that the case violates constitutional rights and due process.
The lawyers also alleged that Justice Crack was taken into custody by military intelligence officers on April 28, 2026, after reportedly honouring an invitation for a meeting.
