A governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Maurice Vunobolki, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing concerns over internal party practices.
Speaking during a press conference in Yola, Vunobolki accused party leaders of attempting to impose a candidate instead of allowing a transparent primary process. He warned that such actions could spark internal conflict and weaken the party ahead of future elections.
He also alleged irregularities in the party’s membership registration, claiming that some individuals’ National Identification Numbers were used without their consent to inflate figures, particularly in Yola North.
Vunobolki further criticised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, accusing him of failing to uphold promises of fairness and transparency in the political process.
Announcing that his resignation took effect on April 13, 2026, he said the decision followed consultations with stakeholders across the state. He added that he is seeking a more credible political platform that guarantees fairness and equal opportunity.
The former aspirant also urged his supporters across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas to withdraw from the APC and await further direction on their next political move.
