The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has revealed a series of major initiatives to celebrate its 35th anniversary, including the offer of 3,500 free business name registrations for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territary.

The announcement was made on Monday at the opening of the CAC @35 anniversary celebration in Abuja by the Registrar-General and CEO of CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN.

Magaji said the Commission has launched a completely redesigned website to enhance ease of doing business in Nigeria. The new portal now features two innovative tools: an AI Lawyer Assistant, which provides instant guidance on CAC laws, rules, procedures, and operations, and an AI Name Generator that helps users create and reserve scalable business names more quickly and conveniently.

In addition to the free business name registrations, CAC’s anniversary programme includes a range of incentives aimed at supporting education, social welfare, and staff welfare.

These include scholarship awards for outstanding corporate law students from the six campuses of the Nigerian Law School and donations — such as 120 mattresses to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp — as part of the Commission’s corporate social responsibility.

Magaji also announced a 25% commemorative staff bonus on one month’s gross salary for CAC employees, along with special car and housing loan schemes.

The CAC boss reflected on the Commission’s journey from a manual registry to a digitally empowered institution, noting the organizational transformation over 35 years and its adoption of technology-driven solutions to support business registration and regulatory compliance nationwide.

Top government figures, captains of industry, and notable guests — including a former Governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda — were present at the event.
