CJN to Administer Oath of Office to Newly Appointed Federal High Court Judges on Wednesday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to swear in newly appointed Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

According to an official statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Dr. Festus Akande, the ceremony will take place in Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court complex in Abuja and will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.

The statement invited members of the Bench and Bar, media representatives, and other stakeholders to attend the formal event. Attendees are expected to comply strictly with prescribed dress codes and security guidelines for access into the courtroom.

The Supreme Court also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation of stakeholders within the justice sector, noting that such collaboration remains essential to strengthening the country’s judicial system.

Earlier, on January 22, 2026, the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended 14 individuals to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court.

The recommendations followed deliberations at the Council’s 110th meeting held on January 13 and 14, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice.

The candidates approved for recommendation include:

Suleiman Amida Hassan, Muhammad Barau Saidu, Igboko Chinelo Conchita, Onuegbu Chioma Angela, Galumje Edingah Ibrahim, Vera Eneabo, Abubakar Musa Usman, Salihu Aisha Yunusa, Ikpeme Joy Bassey, Shehu Umaru Adamu, Mohammed Ibrahim Buba, Eigege-Binjin Nendelmum Judith, Usoro Kuyik Uduak, and Nwoye Osinachi Donatus.
