The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate Eid al-Fitr, the celebration that marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The announcement was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslims across the country for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim community to continue practising the values highlighted during Ramadan, including love, generosity, patience, tolerance, and sacrifice.
He also urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for lasting peace, unity, and progress in the nation.
While wishing Muslim faithful a joyful Eid celebration, the minister advised citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged by showing kindness and support.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening unity and promoting peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of all backgrounds.
