The Federal Government has announced the disbursement of ₦152 billion to local contractors whose projects have been verified, the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF) has confirmed.
In a statement released on Thursday, the ministry said the payments were made following strict verification procedures that ensure government spending follows established financial laws and safeguards taxpayers’ funds.
According to the ministry, only contracts that passed these due-diligence checks were paid, and the process is designed to uphold transparency and accountability in the release of public funds.
The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, acknowledged that delays in payments have put pressure on some contractors, but stressed that engaging in continuous dialogue is crucial to resolving outstanding issues.
“The Federal Ministry of Finance has disbursed a total of ₦152 billion to contractors for verified contracts,” the statement said, noting that each payment was subject to rigorous checks.
The ministry also reiterated its commitment to processing all legitimate payment requests in a timely and consistent manner. It urged contractors to respect the verification process and allow ongoing engagements to resolve any remaining concerns.
The confirmation comes amid ongoing protests by indigenous contractors, who have been demanding payment for completed projects executed for the federal government over the past year.
