The Federal Government has officially opened applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme, offering Nigerian postgraduate students the opportunity to study abroad.

The announcement was confirmed on Monday via a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Dada Olusegun, Special Adviser to the President on Social Media.

The scholarship is open to MSc and PhD candidates in oil and gas–related disciplines, with study destinations including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.

According to PTDF, successful applicants will enjoy a comprehensive funding package covering tuition fees, return air tickets, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and research bench fees where applicable.

For PhD candidates applying to universities in the UK, the programme will operate under a split-site arrangement, allowing scholars to conduct research both at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK) and selected UK partner universities such as Robert Gordon University, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Portsmouth.

PTDF noted that the scholarship is highly competitive, with selection based on academic excellence, relevance of proposed research to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, professional affiliations, and overall suitability.

To qualify, MSc applicants must possess at least a Second Class Lower (2:2) degree, have completed NYSC, be computer literate, and hold a minimum of five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics.

Interested candidates can apply online via scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng.
