Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Attahiru Jega, has passed away.

The family confirmed her death on Sunday, announcing that her Janazah prayer will take place after the Zuhr prayer at about 1:30 p.m. at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Late Hajiya Hadiza Jega was widely respected for her impact in education and community development, particularly in northern Nigeria.

In their message, the family prayed for Allah’s mercy upon her soul and asked friends, associates, and well-wishers to remember them in prayers during this difficult time.

Bayero University Kano, where Prof. Jega previously served as Vice Chancellor, also confirmed the sad news and extended condolences to the family.

The institution prayed for her to be granted Aljannatul Firdaus and for her loved ones to be given strength and patience to cope with the loss.
