A member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has stirred political conversations after revealing he maintains strong connections with both the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite being elected under ADC.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi explained that his collaboration with APC members is largely due to the realities of working in the National Assembly.
He recalled entering the House as the only ADC representative at the time, describing the experience as isolating and challenging. According to him, building alliances—especially with members of the ruling APC—became necessary to function effectively.
Abejide, however, dismissed claims of disloyalty, reaffirming that ADC remains his official political platform and the party that brought him into office.
While acknowledging his past involvement with APC and ongoing relationships within the party, he made a striking remark, saying his “heart” still connects to both sides—politically and personally.
He also clarified that he does not hold dual party membership.
His statement comes at a time when political alignments are shifting ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising fresh questions about party loyalty and strategy.
