The father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, Emmanuel Odiniya, has publicly reacted to the viral family dispute involving his daughter, claiming the confrontation happened after growing tensions within the family.
In an audio message circulating online and reportedly shared by a Kogi-based journalist, Odiniya stated that the incident was not motivated by hatred toward his daughter but by frustration over what he described as changes in her attitude after winning the reality TV competition.
According to him, he played a major role in supporting Ilebaye during her time in the BBNaija house and helped mobilise votes and public support that contributed to her victory.
He alleged that after emerging as the winner, their relationship became strained, claiming that the reality star became distant and no longer respected him as before.
Odiniya further claimed he repeatedly attempted to arrange meetings and appointments with her but was often ignored.
The father also expressed disappointment over what he described as her lifestyle choices and accused her of neglecting him financially despite his reported health challenges.
He alleged that he had requested financial assistance for medical treatment abroad but was told she could not help, while videos later surfaced online showing her spending money at social events.
In the audio recording, he additionally accused Ilebaye of negatively influencing her younger brother and interfering in family matters, including issues relating to his marriage.
Despite the accusations, Emmanuel Odiniya maintained that he still loves his daughter and hopes for reconciliation within the family.
He also stated that security agencies had intervened in the matter and that efforts had been made to settle the dispute peacefully.
Family Members Reportedly Hospitalised After Incident
The controversy gained widespread attention after Ilebaye shared an emotional livestream video online, during which she appeared distressed and called for help.
Reports later emerged that several family members, including her father and siblings, sustained injuries during the altercation at their Abuja residence.
Confirming the incident earlier, spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said those involved were receiving medical treatment while investigations continued.
She also disclosed that some family members were placed under police protective custody as authorities looked into the matter.
