Iran has dismissed claims of ongoing negotiations with the United States, with its Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stating that Tehran has not responded to any reported peace proposal from Washington.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi explained that while Iran receives messages from the US — both directly and through regional intermediaries — there are currently no conditions for formal negotiations.

He acknowledged that some communication has taken place, including indirect exchanges and limited contact involving US envoy Steve Witkoff, but stressed that this does not amount to active talks.

Recent reports had suggested that the United States proposed a 15-point plan to end the conflict, with claims that Iran offered a counterproposal. However, Araghchi rejected those reports, describing them as speculation and insisting that Tehran has made no formal response.

The conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel began on February 28 following deadly strikes that escalated tensions across the Middle East. Since then, diplomatic efforts involving countries such as Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan have attempted to broker peace.

Despite these efforts, Iran maintains a hardline stance. Araghchi said there is no trust in the United States and ruled out a ceasefire, instead demanding a complete end to hostilities along with compensation for damages.

The ongoing war has also disrupted global energy supply, with Iran restricting access through the strategic Strait of Hormuz — a key route for a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high as Iran warns of potential escalation, following the deployment of US military assets, including the USS Tripoli, to the region.

Araghchi cautioned that any further military action could result in serious consequences.
