Bahrain’s National Communication Centre has announced that a service facility linked to the United States Navy’s Fifth Fleet was hit by a missile attack, following escalating tensions in the region.

The statement, released through the state-run Bahrain News Agency (BNA), indicated that the strike occurred hours after Iran threatened a “crushing response” to joint military operations carried out by the United States and Israel against targets inside Iran. Authorities did not officially attribute responsibility for the missile launch but confirmed that further details would be made available later.

Residents were advised to comply strictly with directives from relevant authorities and to rely only on official sources for updates.

Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, whose operational coverage includes the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean. Earlier, the US Embassy in Bahrain reportedly urged American citizens to shelter in place amid concerns about possible missile and drone activity. As of the latest updates, there has been no formal response from the US military regarding the reported strike.

Trump Confirms Major Combat Operations in Iran
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had commenced what he described as “major combat operations” in Iran. His remarks came after explosions were reported in Tehran during the early hours of Saturday.

In a video posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the mission aims to eliminate what he called imminent threats posed by the Iranian leadership. He characterised Iran’s ruling establishment as dangerous and reiterated that the United States would not tolerate continued hostilities.

The president acknowledged that military operations could result in casualties but described the action as necessary for long-term security. He again emphasised Washington’s long-standing position that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, declaring that such a development would not be permitted under his administration.

According to reports from international media outlets, Trump also addressed the Iranian public directly, encouraging them to seek political change and suggesting that the current moment presented a historic opportunity.
Earlier, Israeli authorities confirmed they had carried out what they described as a pre-emptive strike against Iranian targets, marking a significant escalation in tensions across the Middle East.

The situation remains fluid, with global leaders closely monitoring developments amid fears of a broader regional conflict.
