Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has called an urgent Security Council meeting at the Government House in Katsina in response to ongoing insecurity in the state.

The Monday session brings together leaders of security organisations, local government chairmen from affected areas, and representatives from the Nigerian Army, Defence Headquarters, and the Department of State Services, among others.

Senior officials from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency are also in attendance.

Top state officials including the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious figures, and other key government personnel have joined the meeting to tackle the security challenges head‑on.

The emergency meeting follows a brutal attack on Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area on Sunday, during which suspected bandits ambushed a police station, killing a policeman, raided the Primary Health Care Centre, and looted several businesses.

Governor Radda personally visited Sayaya to inspect the damage, assess affected facilities, and comfort residents. He also offered condolences to the Divisional Police Officer and officers of the command for the loss of their colleague and sympathised with families impacted by the violence.
