Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reiterated that ensuring the safety of lives and property remains a central priority for the current administration.

He made this statement on Monday in Abuja while attending the launch of a book authored by media personality Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, titled My Life and Journalists Hangout, where he served as the Special Guest of Honour.

Responding to concerns raised about the country’s security challenges, Shettima assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is actively working to address the situation and is committed to finding lasting solutions.

According to him, the primary responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens, adding that ongoing efforts are focused on strengthening security across the nation.

The Vice President also highlighted the importance of the media in sustaining democracy, praising Kolade-Otitoju for his professionalism and dedication to responsible journalism. He described the media as a vital institution that promotes accountability and informed public discourse.

Also speaking at the event, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq commended the author for his commitment to balanced reporting and integrity in the media space.

During his remarks, Kolade-Otitoju called on the government to intensify efforts in addressing insecurity, suggesting that external support could be considered if necessary to ensure the safety of citizens, especially farmers.
