President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that Nigeria is getting assistance from international partners in its fight against terrorism and banditry.
In his 2026 Easter message released on Good Friday, the President admitted that insecurity remains a major concern, despite the continued efforts of Nigerian troops on the frontlines.
According to him, his administration is not only increasing funding for security operations but also building strategic alliances with foreign nations to strengthen the country’s capacity to tackle violent threats.
“We are committing more resources and working with global partners to deliver decisive action against terrorists and bandits. Support from outside the country is already being received,” he stated.
However, the President did not reveal which countries are involved or the exact form of assistance being provided.
Tinubu acknowledged that attacks are still occurring in some areas, including recent violence in Plateau State, but expressed optimism that ongoing military operations will yield better results. He noted that security chiefs have assured him of progress.
He had earlier hinted at such collaborations, including engagements with Emmanuel Macron focused on military training and equipment support.
The President also called on citizens to cooperate with security agencies and avoid actions that could threaten national unity and stability.
“No country can prosper under constant fear, and lasting development is impossible without peace,” he said.
Addressing the economy, Tinubu defended his administration’s policies, describing recent reforms as tough but necessary steps toward long-term stability.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, he urged politicians to conduct themselves responsibly and strictly follow the provisions of the Electoral Act.
