Minister of Works, David Umahi, has formally backed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, describing his endorsement as a decisive step toward sustaining ongoing national development.
In a statement released on Tuesday through his media aide, Francis Nwaze, Umahi said signing the nomination form symbolizes a broader push for continuity, stability, and the consolidation of progress recorded under the current administration.
He characterized the move as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s development trajectory, noting that the government’s ongoing reforms—especially in road construction and infrastructure rehabilitation—are critical to economic expansion.
According to him, projects currently underway across the country reflect the administration’s commitment to delivering measurable results, adding that the achievements so far provide a solid base for further transformation.
Umahi also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s capacity to complete key initiatives and expand development efforts across various sectors, urging Nigerians to support consistent leadership to achieve long-term national goals.
Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, had earlier obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms on behalf of the president from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Faleke, founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, collected the forms in Abuja following the official commencement of the process by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu.
The purchase of the forms—reportedly valued at ₦100 million—signals the formal start of Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, with governorship and state assembly elections set for February 6, 2027.
