Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and ex-Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, have officially aligned with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as seen in a video showing both leaders receiving their membership cards.

The footage, which surfaced on Sunday, captures the registration process, with Kwankwaso receiving his card first, followed by Obi—signaling what appears to be their formal entry into the party.

Their move comes amid increasing political shifts among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier the same day, both politicians reportedly held a private meeting with NDC leaders at the Abuja residence of the party’s national leader and former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson.

The meeting, held at Dickson’s home in Guzape, is believed to be part of broader efforts to unify opposition groups and form a strong coalition ahead of the upcoming elections.

Obi and Kwankwaso arrived at about 5:18 p.m., where they were welcomed by supporters of the Obi-Kwankwaso movement, who cheered and chanted “O-K is okay” as the leaders made their way inside.

Kwankwaso was dressed in a white babanriga with his trademark red-and-white Kwankwasiyya cap, while Obi appeared in a black kaftan with a matching cap.

This development follows earlier remarks by Buba Galadima, a key figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who hinted during a stakeholders’ meeting that two major political figures would soon unveil a new political platform.
