The African Democratic Congress has confirmed a new location for its national convention scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Abuja.
In an update shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the party announced that the event will now hold at the Rainbow Event Centre, located in the Garki Area 8 district of the capital. The venue was chosen for its accessibility and central position, making it convenient for delegates and stakeholders traveling from across the country.
The party also provided directions, noting that the centre is situated behind the FCDA/AGIS building and close to the NTA headquarters in Area 11.
This announcement follows earlier concerns about the party’s preparedness, as questions were raised over the absence of a confirmed venue less than 24 hours before the convention.
Kola Ologbondiyan, media aide to the party’s embattled National Chairman, David Mark, had previously stated that efforts to secure a venue were still ongoing at the time.
According to him, the party had applied to use Eagle Square but did not receive a response, despite acknowledgment of the request. He added that attempts to secure alternative locations at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, including the Velodrome, were unsuccessful.
However, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, dismissed the claims, stating that no official application had reached his office. He emphasized that public venues like Eagle Square are available to all groups, provided proper procedures are followed and necessary fees are paid.
The convention is expected to draw key party figures and delegates as the ADC prepares for upcoming political activities.
