Key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have taken a bold step in support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara by purchasing his expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The development was revealed on Friday by a delegation led by House of Representatives member, Awaji-Inombek Abiante, who said the move reflects the collective will of party leaders and supporters across the state.

Abiante explained that the decision was driven by widespread confidence in Fubara’s leadership and a strong desire among residents to see continuity in governance.

He noted that such gestures are not unusual in politics, adding that stakeholders at various levels have, in the past, taken similar steps to support candidates they believe in.

According to him, the action is not about financial strength but about public sentiment, stressing that the people of Rivers State have clearly shown their preference for the governor’s continued leadership.

Highlighting the administration’s achievements, Abiante pointed to improvements in infrastructure, increased access to previously hard-to-reach communities, and growing economic opportunities, particularly in riverine areas.

He cited areas like Andoni, where access challenges have significantly improved, allowing communities to become more connected and economically active.

The lawmaker also referenced the renovation of major government facilities, including the State Secretariat, alongside efforts aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

Beyond projects, he praised Fubara’s leadership style, describing him as a responsive and people-oriented leader who understands the needs of the masses.

Abiante clarified that the governor neither requested nor influenced the purchase of the forms, noting that the initiative came purely from supporters.

The forms are expected to be formally presented to Fubara.

This development comes amid shifting political dynamics in Rivers State following the fallout between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which led to divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a broader political realignment.

Fubara’s eventual move to the APC has since reshaped the political landscape, as he works to strengthen his base ahead of the next election cycle.
